The parable of the merchant searching for fine pearls directly informs the inspiration of this collection. In Matthew 13:45-46, Jesus shares with us the pearl of great price. Metaphorically this pearl is referenced or likened to; the immeasurable value of the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus speaking: Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, and upon finding a single pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.

What would you be willing to give up for a pearl of great value? Or yet, the Kingdom of Heaven? The parable teaches to all of mankind; the immense value and the desire of Jesus' heart for all to enter into His Kingdom. That one should be ready and willing to sacrifice (let go of) anything else to gain access and emphasizes the worth of having a relationship with God above all earthly possessions. The search for the pearl symbolizes the opportunity to be a part of God's family.
